Recent Security Problems:
I thought I'd quickly mention some recent security problems that have been going on, mostly because they're kind of strange, and I'm not really sure what's causing them.
Training GAN Systems :
This is the ideal GAN training rig.
At Desk VR Is Nice:
For some reason now of days, we all just jump to room-scale for everything, and I think we lost a lot of good stuff with that attitude. At desk VR isn't something to shrug off, it honestly has a lot of benefits compared to the normal standing VR craze that's been going on.
Minecraft is Now 10 Years Old:
Just think, that means the average Fornite player is now younger than Minecraft itself.
Minetest Server Over:
I had a free box so I was hosting a Minetest server for lainchan.org and friends, but I need the box for something now, so the server's gotta go down.
Fastest Way To Configure Vim:
Vim is the /comfy/iest editor, at least by my books. But it's different from most editors, very different. So for most people, configuring and getting used to Vim, and it's brilliance, takes too much time to be considered worthwhile. For those poor souls (and partly my lazy future-self) I've pieced together a quick guide on configuring vim, quickly and nicely.
Geocentricity, Community, and Rocking Out While Playing Video Games:
I've always liked online communities, and I've always tried to nourish cooperative values in project groups. Places like Lain and Arisu chan, or IRC channels with a strong "usual crowd", frequently catch my attention, the idea of people knowing each other in a thorough but undefinitive way. Working together, talking about whatever, but keeping their data to themselves. Anomie has a special place in my heart because of this, it's my favorite online community, and it's my equivalent of home. I pour a lot of effort into monitoring, building, and helping Anomie, partly because as it's founder, I believe it is (at least a little bit) my responsibility to encourage and develop it. But also because Anomie and it's people are one of the few things I can say, with absolute certainty, that I care about.
I'm currently hosting a Minetest server with a couple random mods (because they were in the package repos). I plan on making some posts on Arisuchan/Lainchan and whatnot. Not sure how long I'll be hosting it, but when I'm done I'll make sure to put up the world file. The server's currently on resource gathering mode (non-creative), and the only "grief prevention" I've set up is a cronjob to take world backups, if that's a problem I guess I'll get
I'm making a new website, this blog is part of that website, that's because this is the new website! How exciting! I figured this one was a fair bit more developed than the old "Just center some links onto a picture of Akiba" design. Now I have room for proper pages, and Cass-Colour schemes! Huzzah!
